Elizabeth MacIsaac has a dual career as both singer and choral director. Her passion for medieval music stems from summer workshops studying under such luminaries in the early music world as Barbara Thornton, Ben Bagby, Julianne Baird and Guillemette Laurens. Primarily known for her performances of early music, Elizabeth also has a strong interest in contemporary music and has commissioned many works by current international composers.
Elizabeth lived for many years in Paris, where she sustained an active schedule as a touring artist. Upon her return to Canada, Elizabeth joined the faculties of the Victoria Conservatory of Music and the University of Victoria, and founded several musical groups including Ensemble Laude (community choir) and Continuum Consort (chamber ensemble). Her extensive discography includes the medieval CD Stonecrop, which was recorded with Pat Unruh in an ancient chapel in a village in the Southern French Alps. Elizabeth is grateful for the wonderful experiences she and Pat Unruh have shared in their many concert tours and performances throughout years of fulfilling collaboration.
