Canadian/Korean baritone Clarence Frazer brings his athletic presence and “silky-smooth baritone” to a wide range of roles. An alumnus of Canadian Opera Company’s prestigious Ensemble Studio and Calgary Opera’s Emerging Artist Development Program, Clarence starred as Figaro with Pacific Opera Victoria in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Marcello with Saskatoon Opera in La bohéme, and Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro with Windsor Symphony and with Southern Ontario Lyric Opera.
Clarence sang Marcello in Against the Grain Theatre’s acclaimed 2019 production of La bohéme, touring from Yukon to Toronto, and covered the role of the Count in Le Nozze di Figaro with Edmonton Opera. In 2022, Clarence looks forward to his return to Edmonton Opera as Guglielmo in Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte.
Mr Frazer has displayed his affinity for contemporary opera, singing the role of William Cormack in Shanawdithit (Burry/Nolan), a co-production of Tapestry Opera and Opera on the Avalon, and portrayed James Isbister in the Canadian Opera Company’s acclaimed production of Louis Riel, with further performances at National Arts Centre and L’Opera de Quebec. In 2019, Clarence joined the stellar cast of a concert performance of Le Nozze di Figaro, understudying Figaro and singing Antonio with the National Arts Centre Orchestra; Alexander Shelley, conductor.
Recent concert performances for Mr Frazer include Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem with Bach Elgar Choir, Messiah (Windsor Symphony, Rideau Chorale, Chorus Niagara), and Mozart’s Requiem with Grand Philharmonic Choir, as well as Handel’s Israel in Egypt with Ottawa’s Caelis Academy Ensemble; Matthew Larkin, conductor.
