Bill Coon

Juno nominated artist Bill Coon won the, and has performed with many significant artists including Jimmy Heath, Peter Bernstein, Dr. Lonnie Smith, PJ Perry, Lorne Lofsky, Sienna Dahlen, Mike Rud, Sheila Jordan, Dee Daniels, Rebecca Kilgore, Peter Washington and Lewis Nash. 

Awards and nominations include Juno nominee with Denzal Sinclaire on I Found Love, Western Canadian Jazz awards nomination for Jazz Artist of 2018 for his own Departure BC Double Quartet, Two Much More! with Oliver Gannon was acclaimed as one of the top ten Canadian jazz recordings of 2015 by the CBC. In 2009 he won the National Jazz Award for ‘Guitarist of the Year’.

Bill has recorded and performed with most of the West Coast jazz musicians of note including Jodi Proznick and Miles Black, (Triology) Brad Turner, Jennifer Scott, Rene Worst, Tom Keenlyside, David Blake, Phil Dwyer, Kevin Elaschuk, Sharon Minemoto, Cameron Wilson, Campbell Ryga, Ross Taggrt, Roy Styffe, Laura Crema and many more.Bill also enjoys playing solo guitar and did several online concerts in the past year that featured his own compositions and some of his favourite standards. He plans to release a solo recording in the near future. Coon is on faculty at Capilano University in North Vancouver, teaching arranging, composition, ensembles, and jazz guitar and teaches at the VSO School of Music.
