Antony was heavily involved in the Kelowna arts community in his youth, participating mostly as a theatre performer with most of the existing theatre companies at the time. From the age of 10 until he finished highschool, he had performed in over 32 productions and many other various performances. Through his involvement in plays and especially musical theatre productions, he began training vocally under Opera Kelowna’s previous artistic director Alexandra Babbel.
Antony continued his involvement with Opera Kelowna and sang in many of their events and operas. He was recognized for his contribution to the arts community in the Okanagan and was awarded the Teen Honour in the Arts Civic Award (2016). He is now finishing his undergraduate degree at UBC double majoring in Opera Performance and Composition. In his time at UBC Opera he has performed in 4 of their productions. Through all the performing, Antony had been composing on the side. It was only a few years ago that he realized that composition was what he was most passionate about. He felt as though he had acquired a unique style, a style that is heavily influenced by his theatre background. Antony has now written many works ranging from chamber music, art song, film music, orchestral works and opera. Recently, he composed 2 scenes for the Vancouver Opera New Works Program, was awarded “Best Score” for the film The Knockers at the UBC film festival (2019) and had his piece “Ogopogo, the Protector of the Okanagan” chosen to be performed by the Victoria Symphony (October, 2021).
