Canadian-Iranian Baritone Alireza Mojibian will be performing the role of Father in Oh Alfred!. Having graduated from the UBC School of Music - Opera Ensemble in 2017, Alireza’s path took a varied and exciting turn into the world of healthcare and clinical research. Now, nearly four years post-graduation Alireza is excited and honoured to be creating this role as part of the Vernon Proms Classical Music Festival.

Alireza’s time at UBC was filled with many incredible experiences and opportunities. Highlights from his University Career include performing the roles of Figaro in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville with the North Czech Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Norbert Baxa, The Sultan and Inquisitor in Bernstein’s Candide with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Bramwell Tovey, Schaunard in Puccini’s La Boheme with the members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and Maestro Leslie Dala, Gastone in Verdi’s La Traviata with members of the Vancouver Opera and Maestro David Agler and Gordon Gerrard, Pappacoda in Strauss’ Eine Nacht in Venedig with the UBC Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Jonathan Girard and Dancairo and Morales in Bizet’s Carmen with members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and Maestro Leslie Dala.

The opportunity to breathe life into any role is wondrous and so, having the opportunity to create a new role with an amazing cast and a living composer and librettist is a truly humbling experience.
