Alex Allen is a writer, musician and recent B. A. graduate from the University of British Columbia. His work straddles the inanely comedic and macabre gothic, punctuating exaggerated situations and farcical dialogue with moments of sincere darkness and inner tumult. His influences include Poe, Rabelais, Lispector, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and the films of Peter Greenaway.
Although his focus is screenwriting, he also writes theatre, poetry and occasionally prose. Currently, Alex is working on a duo of horror stories that parody morality plays. Alex also plays drums in the Southern California band Fashion Jackson, for which he frequently directs music videos. Alex currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
